Producers (Autotrophs):
All the green plants having chlorophyll pigments are called producers and they produce organic nutrient by making use of inorganic sources through photosynthesis. Primary Consumers (Herbivores): Herbivores feed on the green plants and their parts, such as the roots, leaves, fruits and flowers, for deriving energy. Secondary Consumers (Carnivores): These are also known as 'Heterotrophs' and they consume the herbivores for deriving their nutrients. Tertiary Consumers (Carnivores): This trophic level comprises carnivorous animals that feeds on other carnivores. |
